Producers say character in film bears striking Resemblance to J&K CM, but director denies it
Producers Reliance Big Pictures insist Sanjay Suri’s character in Piyush Jha’s latest fim Sikandar is based on Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Suri plays a young, dynamic politician from the Valley with progressive views.
A source from Reliance Big Pictures said, “Suri’s character has elements of Omar Abdullah.
It’s not just his soft-spoken nature, but also the way he dresses, walks and talks.” But the director denies the claims.
“We’ve not modelled any character on any politician in the Valley. The film is a work of fiction,” said Jha.
Reliance Big Pictures claims some of the characters in Sikandar are based on politicians in the Kashmir Valley.
According to sources, the political undercurrents in the film are being kept under wraps to prevent trouble.
Politicians from the Valley have decided to protest against characters based on them in any film related to Kashmir.
Many such projects are already facing legal hassles.
